The Journey of Creating Bask Saunas: Phase Two
So, there I am and have been, knee-deep in the second phase of creating Bask Saunas, and let me tell you, it was a rollercoaster of hilarity, a few tears and lessons in letting go; not everything can go to plan, no matter how much you plan it. I thought the first phase was a challenge, but that was just a warm-up! If I had known what was ahead, I might have just stuck to binge-watching TV.
Getting the Sauna into Position
Sleepless nights were the norm for a while. I was worried about how we would get the sauna into position in the wooded thicket up a small hill consisting of soft ground. I had visions of her toppling over and skidding around! Needless to say I need not have worried.
The morning of the move my heart skipped a beat of pure joy as I saw THE Biggest tractor I have ever seen come onto the campsite to push my sauna into place. What a great job, done in no time at all. The person who done it was an absolute hero to me that day; free sauna to that man!

Building the Decking for the Plunge Experience and Forest Bathing
An integral part of this phase, was building the decking for the plunge experience and the serene practice of forest bathing. It was no small feat, and I want to take a moment to thank the amazing team who helped bring this vision to life. Their hard work and dedication made a significant difference. Free saunas for those guys too, I think one of them will take me up on that offer or his wife will anyway.
There were plenty of back-breaking tasks along the way, including treating the decking foundations on my own into the dark one evening. I never even noticed the light fade as my eye adjusted. The campsite warden found me painting on the treatment and was flabbergasted I as still there. I don't think he will ever let me live that moment down, "mad woman" and "your no right" are teasing phrases that come to mind. It was a labor of love, and I also took the time to treat the sauna wood interior, in the day light mind you, to ensure it would be both durable and beautiful. It felt rewarding to know that my efforts would contribute to a stunning final product.

Grateful for Friends and Gravel Bags
I couldn't have done it alone, and I'm incredibly grateful to my friends who came to help create the path and shovel those two-tone bags of gravel. Their support made the process not only easier but also more enjoyable. It’s amazing what you can accomplish with a little teamwork and a lot of laughter.

Building My Own Website
Amidst all this, I also embarked on the journey of building my own website, despite having no prior knowledge. It was a challenge in itself, akin to trying to assemble IKEA furniture without the instructions—frustrating and confusing, yet oddly satisfying when it finally came together. I was determined to showcase the sauna experience I was creating, and let me tell you, my brain felt like it was doing CrossFit. I could almost hear it flexing as I navigated through web design, which was like a rollercoaster ride of emotions—thrilling at times, and at others, I just wanted to throw my computer out the window.
Each new concept I tackled felt like a mini triumph, yet there were moments when I questioned my sanity—like when I spent three hours trying to figure out why my images wouldn’t load, only to discover I had forgotten to hit ‘save.’ (Classic rookie mistake!) But with every hurdle I overcame, I felt my understanding grow exponentially. It was as if my brain was sprouting new neurons. I learned so much along the way, from the intricacies of layout to the subtle art of choosing the perfect font, It's kind of like choosing a pizza topping—one bad choice and suddenly you're stuck with anchovies and regret!
In the end, despite the headaches and the occasional existential crisis, I emerged with a website that I was proud of. It may not have been perfect, but it was a testament to my perseverance and a true reflection of the sauna oasis I envisioned.
